What Makes a Good Comic Book Shirt?
A question that I think many people gloss over when looking at comic book shirts. There are all sorts of different shirts from character symbols, funny sayings, character portraits, and shirts that only comic fans would get when seeing them. I asked some people what they thought about comic book shirts and there seemed be a general consensus.
The biggest thing that the people I talked to appear to like the most are “simple” and not “noisy” shirts. Most of them mentioned this in general for shirts, but felt it was even more important for comic shirts. Here’s what some people had to say:
Jake Nickell - Well for me, I really like simple designs with a strong message and that use the t-shirt medium as part of the message. When I pass someone on the street I want them to be able to understand what’s on my tee in a split second.
Josh Flanagan - I tend not to wear comic book t-shirts unless they’re particularly clever or subtle. At the same time, it’s really neat to see the expanse of color lantern shirts flooding the floors of comic conventions.
Ryan Haupt - I think anything with buttons on it probably should avoid having comic book stuff on them. It doesn’t look fancy, it looks silly.
I talked to a bunch of other people, but a lot of what was said here was repeated. The big things were simple, clever, and subtle. Many people mentioned shirts with their favorite superhero symbol on it, which are cool, but not uncommon. It’s always nice to see other comic book shirts that aren’t one of a billion different superhero shirts.
With that in mind here are 5 awesome comic shirts:
1. I’m in a Comic book!
2. Keep Your Kirby Hand Strong!
3. The Epic Begins
4. Adamantium
5. Bat and Robin
What does everyone think? Are these good comic book shirts or are there better ones out there? If so feel free to share!
