I’m So Excited! I Just Can’t Hide It!

Holy Crap!

Well that’s not what I said, not really.  What I really said can’t be recanted as it’s most likely too dirty for your ears.  To say that I was excited to hear the news that Graphic.ly acquired iFanboy would be an understatement.  You know that feeling when two of your favorite things coming together.  Like chocolate and peanut butter or.. or Geoff Johns writing Green Lantern.  Sometimes the word “excited” doesn’t seem to be enough.

I’ve been a member of iFanboy since February of 2008, actually when looking through my iFanboy history it’s almost two years to the day that I wrote my first review.  Before that, I listened to Ron, Josh, and Conor for at least 2 years through iTunes.  So in internet terms, I feel like I’ve been a fan of iFanboy for roughly 200 years.  It’s one of the only sites the the last two years, that isn’t Facebook, Twitter, or a Web Comic that I visited on a regular basis.  Why do I keep going back?  iFanboy is not just a site that you can review your comics at, it isn’t just a place that Ron, Josh, Conor, and other writers post articles on comics, it’s not just a podcast that comes out each week.

It’s a community.

It’s a community that I’ve been able to go to in the last couple years and talk about comics.  iFanboy exists past just the website and podcasts.  It’s one of the places I’ve seen where a member can shoot out a tweet for a meet-up and people respond.  It’s a place that when someone cried out for help, I didn’t hesitate to them.  iFanboy is also where I’ve met a majority of my “internet friends” and without it, I’d still probably be stumbling through the internet looking for a place to hang out.  Who knows, maybe by know I would have stumbled onto one of the more “nefarious” places.

I know in my short time at Graphic.ly, I’ve learned that only good things can come from this.  Both iFanboy and Graphic.ly are about appreciating comic books and their creators.  They are both a places to hold discussions around comic books.  Places where friends can hang out.

So to have iFanboy become part of Graphic.ly, to have that community be part of Graphic.ly, is awesome.  It allows me a chance to actually work, and get paid to do so, with people I admire, but at the same time, not get in their way or screw with their mojo.  It’s also a chance to finally see three awesome guys finally get their due.

I seriously can’t tell you how hard it was to say I was excited without swear words.  When I get this excited I usually start swearing like a sailor and become incoherent, similar to when I find something shiny on the ground.  You can ask Micah, he’s told me to take a chill pill more than once since when I get this way.
